In preparation for a significant increase in local development, the City of Falls Church, Virginia retained Retail Compass to analyze the market and determine an appropriate amount of retail growth for the community. Our efforts started with gaining a better understanding of the existing inventory and then expanded to studying the impact of local retail competition – including nearby Tyson’s Corner Center – on Falls Church ’s retail development potential. The conclusions of this document now serve as a retail planning tool for the City.
As a component of a citywide planning effort, retail market conditions were a critical piece of information for managing future decisions in the City of Manassas. Retail Compass joined the planning team to investigate existing retail in Old Town Manassas and to evaluate retail development potential for the next ten years. As a second phase of this study, Retail Compass will identify locations for retail growth and recommend appropriate types of retail based on market demand.
